President’s Corner:

Hello to All-

The Crabbet Celebration XII is now history. For my main project this month, I am reporting the Show Awards and a bit of analysis of the show’s entries and results. The Sport Horse entries continue to increase, and deserve more classes in the show to accommodate that great interest of ECAHS members.

The Celebration went off fairly well even though another group was holding a competing show, which drained off local exhibitors we had counted on for our show. As this will be a permanent date conflict (on the Labor Day weekend) for both organizations, the Fair Hill site is not a likely choice for a future Celebration. We need to search out sites for the alternate years when the Celebration is not at Wakefield, VA. Theses alternate locations were started so as to move the Celebration into various areas closer to some of our members for their participation. If you have a location suggestion, please let me know. Wakefield, VA will be our 2006 site and I am working on the Celebration Chairperson and the show committee, as well as educational clinics and seminars. The non-show activities need to have a separate time from the show – perhaps a Friday afternoon and/or a Saturday afternoon. The family groups and stallion presentations need a totally separate time as well. These are the important aspects of the Celebration and deserve special emphasis. We have an ECAHS Think Tank scheduled for October 8, 2005 at 12 noon at Winchester, VA. Next month I will speak to some of the decisions at which we arrived. This is an open membership meeting – not a directors meeting. All present members and most previous members will receive a postal card notification of the meeting. We are to re-evaluate ECAHS’ goals and consider where we’ve been and where we’re heading, plus and all-inclusive endeavor to also attack some of the problems we are facing presently.

Our Annual Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, November 12, 2005, at 12 noon, also in Winchester, VA at the same location as the Think Tank. (The Continental Restaurant). Lunch and dinner will be available. You will receive a mailing on this event, along with your ballot to elect new directors for a 2006-2007 term. We do need a good attendance, so please come join us as we head for the future with ECAHS – we need your input and participation. Also Please Vote. Either mail your ballot or bring it to the meeting on 11/12/05.

Thanks for your time. See you next month.

Best to all,

Dick Stoneback, ECAHS President
