ECAHS Business & Information

               Editor’s Notes:

Dear ECAHS Members & Friends:

Happy New Year! Well, all the holiday festivities are over and it’s too cold to do much outside. So it is a great time to do your planning for ECAHS activities. We have a variety of committees that always need help and new ideas. Speaking of which, Cathy Aul asks for anyone who would interested in working on the youth committee to contact her (443)207-2068; aulthat@excite.com.  She would like to get together with all interested parties to discuss options for this year.

As a reminder to all committee chairs, you should have your proposed budgets prepared and submitted to Rose Borkey prior to the February 18th meeting.

For those of you planning on attending the Horse World Expo in Timonium, MD January 19 – 22, please plan to stop by and visit the ECAHS booth.

On a personal note, John and I would like to express our condolences to Fred and Ferdie Mack on the loss in December of their wife and mother, Ann Mack. We knew Ann mostly through our membership in BRAHA. Though we have not seen her a great deal in recent years, since we moved to Virginia, we still consider the Macks to be friends.  Ann used to own our foundation mare, LST Rafayn, more commonly know as “Annie”. Ann liked to tell that when visitors to the farm asked Fred where Ann was, he would reply, “Oh, Annie’s off riding Annie”. Ann Mack was a talented and generous woman. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

  President’s Corner:

Hello from Northwestern Pennsylvania, where we have been in the deep freeze for weeks now. Lots of snow too – every day but one in the past weeks with a big one on the way today. The horses look beautiful playing and running in the snow, but they head for cover when it storms.

By the time you receive this message the holidays will be over. I hope each of you had a Merry Christmas and a good start for the New Year of 2006. ECAHS has a lot of ground to cover over the next few months before our next meeting in February. We especially need volunteers for committee workers. Sue Miller will head up and coordinate the Crabbet Celebration XIII set at Wakefield, Virginia over Labor Day weekend and I’m sure she’ll need lots of volunteers to help with that big and important event. Let me hear from you to tell me where you wish to help on any of the ECAHS committees.

Thanks and best wishes to all,
